Special Mention: OMI NOBU (THE NEW MAN) - Directed by Carlos Yuri Ceuninck

In Ribeira Funda, an abandoned village on the island of São Nicolau, time seems to stand still. Quirino has lived there for over 30 years. The old fisherman spends his days in the company of a hen and a transistor radio, his only link with the outside world. OMI NOBU explores the human relationship with time. At 76 years of age, Quirino's daily life is becoming difficult, isolated in this village between the sea and the mountains. Quirino is faced with a dilemma: whether to leave the place where he has always lived or end his days there. In this intimate portrait, Cape Verdean filmmaker Carlos Yuri Ceuninck explores man's attachment to the land and pays tribute to this former fisherman.
