This film takes a series of comedy pot-shots at the increasing prudishness and self-censorship in Egyptian cinema featuring several stars of the big screen in Egypt. Famous actress Yasmine Raeis appears as the bitchy main character Fagr on the shoot of a young director’s debut feature film. Despite having played liberal roles in the past and kisses traditionally being very popular in Egyptian cinema (as the archive clips shown testify), Fagr suddenly refuses to kiss her onscreen partner. This is because she has since converted to Islam and is now a devout Muslim. From now on she will only appear on-screen in a headscarf, a development that drives her director to despair. An entertaining cinematic experience with a serious background that you don’t have to be an expert in Egyptian cinema to enjoy.
