Abdelkader works as a security guard at a shopping centre and his wife Malika works in home help. They live in Meknès, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Recently married, they yearn to leave their family homes to start a life of their own together. Abdelkader is used to taking a hard line in his work, but one day he goes too far and the young couple’s world is suddenly turned upside down. Director Faouzi Bensaïdi said, “The two characters are part of a new working class that is impoverished by the economic and financial world. The film takes an intimate look into the private sphere while also exploring the wider consequences of brutal globalisation.”
