The South African Matthew Jankes received funding from the US film development programme "Africa First" for Umkhungo – The gift and is now already working on his first feature film. His highly regarded short film takes place in the slums of Hillbrow, Johannesburg, and is about an orphan who has had paranormal abilities since birth. He uses them to help somebody else to get to grips with ghostly experiences from the past.
